Prep Time 15 minutes mins
Beauty Time 20 minutes mins
- 1/4 cup food grade rose petals typically used for teas
- 1/4 cup boiled water enough to cover rose petals
- 1/2 cup raw wildflower honey * see notes below
Making Your Rose Water Infusion
Turn your kettle on and boil the water, next add your rose petals into a heat-proof container then pour enough of the boiled water over the petals, covering the petals. (Adding too much water will make your mixture very runny)
All your rose petal infusion to cool completely.
Making Your Rose & Honey Face & Hair Mask
Optional (to avoid a mess you can strain the spent rose petals out of your water before adding the honey) add your 1/2 cup of honey to your cooled rose water and stir to combine.
Next, get comfortable, either in a bath or in clothing you don't mind getting a little sticky (honey washes out in the machine - trust the beekeeper :-) ), and begin by massaging the mixture into your scalp using circular motions. Once your scalp has been covered begin working the mixture through your hair, paying special attention to the ends.
After the mixture has been completely worked through your hair from scalp to ends, make sure your hair is secured away from your face and begin massaging the mixture onto your face and neck using circular motions. Make sure your face and neck are covered, then sit back and relax while the mixture works its magic. After 20 minutes (or longer if you like) rise the mixture from your face and hair with really warm water. Use a mild shampoo on your hair and pat your face dry.
- Make sure the honey you are using is raw, unpasteurized wildflower honey from a local beekeeper. Pasteurized honey will not have the same benefits for your hair and skin as raw honey - since it has been cooked. Imported honey can be misleading for consumers so find a local small-scale beekeeper and use that honey.
